VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Everyone with a student in the school is automatically a member of our PTO.  There are no membership fees, but we arealways looking for help. We know we have a community of eager parents and guardians wanting to help and we have several ways that you're able to do so. From event planning to classroom help, we have numerous ways for you to get involved. Want to know more or have other ideas in ways that you can help? Our Teams

Book Fair

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Works directly with Book Fair company and the Media Center/Librarian to coordinate both the Fall and Spring Book Fairs. Recruit volunteers to run registers and help children shop throughout the school day as well as family night.  Should be available to attend book fair in person several days throughout the week, as well as be at the school for delivery and pickup of the fair.

Spirit Knights

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Plan monthly events with local businesses that will donate a portion of their proceeds to the PTO in exchange for our publicizing their business.  Work with the board and communications director to get the word out to the community. Should be available to attend the events as needed.

Sponsorships

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Over the summer, create and price Sponsorship Packages with the Board, then publicize and solicit local businesses to sponsor.  Set deadlines that align with the Boosterthon t-shirt order.  Throughout the year, ensure that the PTO’s obligations to sponsors (publicity, banners, etc.) are met, and work to keep relationships strong so we have repeat sponsors. 

Silent Auction

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Recruit volunteers, solicit donations, and design packages for the Silent Auction held in conjunction with the Golf 4 Knights tournament.  Set up the digital auction and ensure delivery of prizes.  Must be available all day on the auction/ tournament date.

Winter Dance

Reports to Co-Presidents

Plan and Execute the annual Dance Party for Knights Families

Family Fun Knights

Reports to Co-Presidents

Create and execute 3-4 events throughout the year during non-school hours, such as Books & Bingo, Family STEM Night, Paint and Sip, etc. Plan activities that allow for participation of students, families, and teachers/staff to build community and identity of the Kings Town Knights family.

Website/Newsletter

Reports to Director of Communications

Work with the Communications Director to create publicity for PTO activities through the printed monthly newsletter and graphics for the website and social media.  Should have knowledge of Canva or another design tool.

Spirit Wear

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Work with the board and vendors to offer exciting Spirit Wear options to students, families and staff. Make decisions on pricing, quantities, designs, and item selection in conjunction with the board.

Free Money

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Make sure that the PTO is set up with all available donation and grant programs such as Box Tops, Harris Teeter VIC, Publix, etc.  Work with the communications director to publicize programs to the community and let them know how to participate.

Golf 4 Knights Tournament

Reports to VP, Fundraising

Plan and execute the annual Golf 4 Knights Tournament. Must be available the full day of the tournament.

Teacher Appreciation

Reports to VP, Hospitality

Plan theme, treats, meals, gifts, and donations/volunteers for Teacher Appreciation Week. Must be available most of not all days during that week to be at the school. May also help with hospitality cart and seasonal teacher treats or gifts.

Fall Festival

Reports to Co-Presidents

Plan and execute the annual Fall Festival for Knights Families

Volunteer

Reports to Co-Presidents

Recruit volunteers for PTO activities, maintain a master list of volunteers and reach out to them when needs arise, work with all members of the board and other committee chairs to ensure that volunteer communication is consistent.

Audit

Reports to Treasurer

At least once per quarter, work with the Treasurer to perform a review of bank transactions and cash reconciliation, matching reported financial transactions to receipts or other supporting documents.

Volunteering in the FMSD

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Fort Mill School District. Keeping students, faculty and staff safe is the top priority. To help ensure safety, background screens for volunteers are required. In order to submit a background check you must have a social security number and driver's license.
